Pupils show their smiles

Despite the thick mist and a bitter cold 4 degree C, the pupils from Impilo Primary School had reason to smile on 22 June.

The corporate social responsibility team from Programme and Project Managers, RSV ENCO, visited the primary school and handed out scarves, beanies, gloves and dental packs, much to the delight of the 255 pupils.

The dental gift pack included a kiddie’s cup, a toothbrush and toothpaste.

In addition, 20 lucky Grade 1 pupils received a free dental consultation, made possible by ENCO and the mobile dental team of “Square Carrot”.

Dr. Braam Bornman, with the help of his assistant, Ms Hilton Sithole, provided basic dental care and dental education.

“There is nothing like a child’s smile to warm the cockles of the heart,” Ms Sharline van der Merwe, ENCO’S Corporate Services Manger, said.

“Part of ENCO’s corporate social responsibility drive is to support programmes like “Square Carrot” that help make a difference in impoverished communities,” she also said.

ENCO is involved in a Total Coal’s Dorstfontein East Project in the area as the EPCM Managing Consultant.

“We believe in getting involved in the communities we work in.

“We have identified a few more areas at the school where we can be of assistance,” Ms van der Merwe said.
